The wait is over, Jose Calderon has been cleared to play for the Detroit Pistons.

Since joining the Pistons as a result of the three-team trade that sent Tayshaun Prince to the Memphis Grizzlies and Rudy Gay to the Toronto Raptors, Jose Calderon's Detroit debut had been delayed due to unresolved issues with his visa. The complications mainly stemmed from the extra "hoops" that needed to be passed through as Calderon was the first European-born NBA player to play for the Canadian-based Toronto Raptors, to then be traded to an American team.

Since being acquired by the Pistons last week, Calderon has missed games against the Cleveland Cavaliers and the Los Angeles Lakers. Calderon is expected to start at point guard tonight when the Pistons travel to New York to take on the Knicks. The Pistons and Knicks tip-off at 7:30 pm.
